Commonly used mineral deposit industrial indicators

Jan 10, 2025

mineral deposit industrial indicators are:

(1) Boundary grade.

Boundary grade refers to the dividing grade between ore and waste rock. If the useful components are lower than the boundary grade, they are all treated as waste rock.

(2) Industrial grade.

Industrial grade refers to the lowest average grade of useful components of industrially usable ore bodies or ore blocks under current industrial technical conditions and economic conditions.

(3) Minimum mineable thickness.

Minimum mineable thickness refers to the minimum thickness of the ore body that can be mined under the current mining technical level and economic conditions.

(4) Interlayer removal thickness.

Interlayer removal thickness refers to the minimum thickness of the mineralized interlayer in the ore body that should be removed. Interlayers less than this thickness are included in the calculation of ore reserves.

(5) Minimum meter percentage.

Minimum meter percentage refers to the product of the minimum mineable thickness of the ore body and the minimum mineable grade. For some ore bodies, especially some rare and precious metals, sometimes the thickness is less than the minimum mineable thickness, but the grade of its useful components is much higher than the lowest industrial grade. Even if a certain thickness of surrounding rock is mined, it is still economically reasonable. At this time, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the impact of the thickness and grade of the ore body on the mining value of the deposit. This indicator is not suitable for thick and poor ore bodies.
